As Christians, our top priority must be to get the good news out to as many people as we can. Beyond all of the other priorities that we have in life, the number one goal must be to get the message of the gospel out to every person on the face of the earth. This is the commission we've been given by our Lord and it is a task that can be considered both critical and exhaustive.
Our priority is critical because life and death are on the line--for eternity. Some people will be resurrected to eternal life; others will be resurrected to eternal damnation. There is no in-between, and the gospel makes all the difference. If a person dies in his sins, he will suffer the judgment of God and be cut off from the blessings of the Lord for eternity. However, if someone trusts in the finished work of Christ as his only hope in life and death, he receives the gift of eternal righteousness imputed to his spirit, so that he will be innocent before God forever to the glory of Jesus Christ our Lord. Our priority is critical.
Our priority is also to be considered exhaustive because this proposition applies to all people. No matter a person's age, ethnicity, reputation, or generation, he or she needs the gospel. Without hearing the good news of what Jesus has done on our behalf, a person is unable to trust in Him. If a person does not trust in Him, he will die in his sins. The last thing we should want is for a man to breathe his last without hearing what Christ did to save sinners. Our priority is exhaustive--it applies to every soul.
So, as you make plans for today, this week, and beyond, be sure to consider your top priority. How is it that the gospel will go with you as your plans are fulfilled? How will you bring up the good news to those who need to hear?
